Are you a Visionary?

Why have a visionary mindset? Is it really necessary?

Here's the difference in being a pessimist, optimist, or a visionary... Let's say you're a pessimist and your goal is represented by the #25 on the the chart below. The pessimist is negative and has a self defeating attitude and because of that they move their goal from 25 down to 1! Why? because as a pessimist I'll never hit that #25! DUH, And guess what? I actually hit my adjusted goal of 1. Here's the odd thing, I'm also proud that I was right about not being able to hit 25! That's the banner I wear. I'm a pessimist!

Now as an optimist, my goal is 35! Also as an optimist, I truly believe that I can get to that 35. I'm open about it, vocal about it, and share my goal with all my friends an family! Why? Because I'm optimistic and excited about my future when I hit that goal! But some of my friends are extremely cynical and beat me down with their words. They say things like, "you'll never hit that goal! You have no experience, you've failed so many times before, your word means nothing." Their words catch up to me. I don't want to be that guy who fails! Let's be reasonable here, I'll move my goal to 25, I know I can hit 25 that's easy! I'll play it safe. So what do I do? I move my goal down to 25 and hit my goal! Yay!

Now there's the VISIONARY! The crazy people! The ones who really make no rational sense when it comes to setting goals. Their goals are MIND BLOWING and HUMONGOUS to the average person. Nothing anyone says budges them. They don't care what negativity comes their way, they believe with full faith that they can hit their goal in spite of it. Their goal is represented by the number 100! They work, battle, struggle, and give it all they got to succeed in hitting that goal in the timeframe they've set for themselves to get to it. But they FAIL! They fail BIG! By 50%!

So why be a visionary? Everyone is now making fun and talking about you and how you didn't hit your goal! Doesn't sound too fun does it. But again the visionary is unwavering, he learns from that experience and goes again, and again, and again till 100 becomes easy!

Now even though the pessimist and optimist hit their goal and the visionary failed miserably, based purely on results alone, who went farther? Who achieved more? Who set the bar? Who grew themselves the most? Who inspired the others by what's possible?

THE VISIONARY!

Which one will you choose to be?
